Incubus rosiness to get one of the most pop alt-metal bands of the new millennium, scene themselves aside from a crowded plain with a slightly less-negative prospect and unwearying touring. Formed in 1991 in the San Fernando Valley suburb of Calabasas, CA, group members Brandon Boyd (vocals, percussion section), Mike Einziger (guitar), Alex Katunich (aka Dirk Lance; bass), and José Pasillas (drums) were all tenth grad classmates when they got together. Their early funk-metal sound was heavily influenced by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, simply broadened over the following few old age to integrate cream, rap-metal, post-grunge stone, and grinding alt-metal à la Korn or the Deftones. By the meter the grouping graduated from high school day, they had already been playing all-ages shows around southern California on a regular footing. In 1995, Incubus added hip-hop turntablist DJ Lyfe (aka Gavin Koppel) to their batting order and recorded the independently released album Fungus Amongus. That, conjugate with their strong local following, helped the circle get a consider with Epic subordinate Immortal.

Incubus' first major-label release was the six-song EP Enjoy Incubus, which was released in early 1997 and consisted of old demos that were revamped in the studio. Later in the year, their number one full-length album, S.C.I.E.N.C.E., was released. Incubus hit the route with a payback, opening for bands like Korn, Primus, 311, Sublime, and Unwritten Law. By the summer of 1998, the band had amassed enough of a following to soil a slot on that year's Ozzfest tour. They too wound up the year as part of Korn's inaugural address Family Values tour, by which time DJ Lyfe had bypast and been replaced by DJ Kilmore (first key out Chris). With their momentum and exposure lento building, Incubus returned to the studio and delivered their followup album, Make Yourself, in late 1999. The group went right-hand back out on the route, and their stint on the 2000 Ozzfest helped crystallize the new audience that the single "Pardon Me" was pull in. Although Seduce Yourself hardly stony-broke the Top 50 on the album charts, it was a steady trafficker that finally pushed yesteryear the double-platinum saint Mark. The second gear single, "Stellar," was a smaller-sized strike on rock tuner, but the album's biggest vocal didn't hit the airwaves until 2001; "Drive" was a leftfield success that became their first-class honours degree Top Ten hit on the pop charts. Incubus expanded their audience by playing Moby's Area: One package circuit that summer, and with "Push back" motionless fresh in the public's mind, released their next album, Dawn View, in the fall of 2001. It entered the charts at number 2, confirming that Incubus had diligently worked themselves into stardom. "Wish You Were Here," "Nice to Know You," and "Warning" were all popular on rock wireless, and the band naturally toured to a great extent in support -- this prison term as a star.

In former 2003, Incubus became embroiled in a condense dispute with Sony and filed a suit to experience their deal terminated under California labour Party laws. In April, the ring proclaimed the departure of bassist Dirk Lance. Within years, fellow Incubus guitar player Mike Eiziger called upon his Time Lapse Consortium fellow Ben Kenney to be Lance's permanent renewal. The radical remained a part of the Sony imperium, notwithstanding, and released A Crow Left of the Murder on Epic/Immortal in early 2004, which strike number two on the Billboard Top 200. Some touring followed in front Incubus headed dwelling house in November to take a well-deserved get around. The guys worn-out the side by side deuce years on an individual basis exploring things outside of the isthmus -- music, art, picture show, and literature endeavors all included -- though they besides remembered to work on and finish their sixth record album, recorded over a year's clip in both L.A. and Atlanta. The resulting record, Light Grenades, appeared in late November 2006.

Orange You Glad You Don’t Have Hair Like Artist Ann Pachner?

Ann Pachner’s Chanting (2004).Courtesy the artist and A.I.R Gallery
Ann Pachner creates bright, voluptuous objects and images. She does wood carvings that look like casual teepees or leaves that a fairy might use to float down a river on. She presents five-foot pencil drawings in their original and digitized form, images that suggest fire, hair, or a lady's ballooning skirt. Here, it's not clear if Pachner is making the best of a bad hair day or if said bad hair day has provoked a nuclear reaction of sorts. Either way, we're hoping our next bad hair day looks as dramatic as this — and perhaps we'll also try and pass it off as art. Pachner's one-woman show closes at A.I.R Gallery in Chelsea tomorrow. —Emma Pearse

Amy Winehouse may have tuberculosis

Doctors fear that singer Amy Winehouse's symptoms of coughing up blood, weight loss and lack of appetite point toward the deadly disease tuberculosis - more commonly known as TB.

The 24-year-old has been in hospital on a drip since she collapsed at home on Monday.

A friend of the ‘Back to Black' singer told Britain's The Sun newspaper:

"Amy is in a bad way. Doctors are still struggling to control her irregular heartbeat but the chest condition has been really worrying them.

"She has been suffering horrible coughing fits and hurling up blood for a while but refused to be examined. Doctors now believe it is tuberculosis and are doing more tests to be certain."

Amy's family and friends hope the diagnosis could shock Amy into quitting drugs for good.

The pal added: "Things sound really bad but at least now they have found something specific it will be easier to keep her in hospital and free from drugs. The word tuberculosis might frighten her into getting herself well. It certainly should do.

"She needs to realise she will die if she doesn't clean up her act."

Amy is scheduled to play Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday concert in London and the Glastonbury festival in Somerset this month.

Her spokesperson said the singer still plans to honour the commitments - but only if doctors will let her.

The spokesperson said: "At present she still intends to perform at her two scheduled dates next week.

"However the decision will be made entirely on the advice of her doctors and in her best interests. Amy has undergone more scans and tests and we are awaiting the verdict of her doctors."

Tuberculosis is transmitted by droplets in the air, and is usually more common in developing countries. Drug addicts, alcoholics and those with poor diets are more susceptible to the disease because of their reduced immune systems.

TB - which is on the rise in Britain - requires six months of medication and if left untreated attacks most organs, resulting in likely death.
